Tav Seaton and Jake Cavill make senior debuts in 5-2 win

With Evan Culmer and Josh Sidki called into first team action and other players unavailable. Jason Savage took the opportunity to provide Tav Seaton and Jake Cavill their first taste of senior football. Other changes saw Adam Frost replace Josh Sidki in the heart of defence and Ryan Gooch replace Dan Morgan. Connor Mainstone started on the left hand side in place of Evan Culmer.

Cornard started the brighter, switching the ball from right to left and trying to play balls through the back four. Despite pressing the Wivenhoe defence they failed to really trouble Liam Daniels.
Wivenhoe were hacking at clearances but created opportunities, when cleanly connecting with the ball. Matt Grove, Connor Mainstone and Oliver O'Hare finding the ball at their feet on occasions.
Slowly growing into the game Matt Grove found the byline and found Oliver O'Hare situated in the six yard box, to finish from close range.
One was soon two as a ball from the right this time evaded Oliver O'Hare, but Connor Mainstone was on hand at the back post to double the blues advantage.
Oliver O'Hare then doubled his tally for the afternoon and added to wivenhoe's lead when a long ball over the top evaded the cornard back four and he finished with aplomb past the oncoming goalkeeper.
Tav Seaton replaced Ryan Gooch and showed great technical ability in the centre of midfield. A credit to himself and the coaches in the youth set up. The change also saw Joe Steel replace the goal scorer Matt Grove.
Jamie Baker added to the score before half time and Jame Cavill entered the fray replacing Connor Mainstone another young player showing his potential running at the right back, causing chaos..

HT 4-0

Coming in at the break more than pleased with the result, but knowing the performance was no where near acceptable. Wivenhoe wanted to get out at half time and put certain things right.... However, they didn't and in fact Cornard once again came out the stronger, an ever present thorn in the side of the dragons.
Their persistence paid off when they pulled a goal back, a ball was played past Adam Frost who left his man to score.
After this event, an unfortunate collision with his own player caused a Cornard player to suffer severe concussion. After being stretchered off, emergency services were called to deal with the situation. Everybody at Wivenhoe Town FC wishes the player all the best in his recovery and hopes for a speedy recovery.
This event was sandwiched by another Cornard goal. After failing to clear their lines, Cornard were left one on one again with Liam Daniels and they closed the lead once more.
After conceding two goals, Wivenhoe finally realised there was a game on, and they began to get the ball wide and allow Jake Cavill and Joe Steel to penetrate the spaces available.
From this Joe Steel drove into the penalty area and delivered a powerful low cross into the feet of Oliver O'Hare who completed his hatrick.

FT- 5-2

Credit to Cornard. They've had a rough time of it and results haven't gone their way. Yet they continued to play and rightly deserved their two goals. It was defensively disappointing for Wivenhoe and they should have converted more opportunities in the second half. However their were positives in Jake Cavill and Tav Seaton who showed that the future is certainly bright for Wivenhoe Town. It's three points for the reserves and a step closer to the summit of the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League.
