Reserves start new season like they finished the last

Kicking off the league campaign two weeks after the other members of the Thurlow Nunn League Reserve Division was never going to be easy for Wivenhoe Town and three individual errors in the first half made things harder.

The Dragon's began strongly with the ball finding Oliver O'Hare and Reece Keating on numerous occasions. It was however Lowestoft who took the lead after Josh Sidki didn't put enough pace on a back pass following a strong challenge as the quick Lowestoft centre forward nipped in and finished past Liam Daniels.
One was soon two when this time Ben Fowler played a stray sideways pass thirty yards out. Lowestoft capitalized on this mistake and doubled their advantage.
A few strong words from several players encouraged the blues to continue to find Ollie O'Hare and Reece Keating and it was O'Hare who went through and despite going past three Lowestoft defenders was wrongly adjudged to be offside.
Moments later Wivenhoe did pull a goal back when Reece Keating latched onto a forward ball and calmly finished when one on one with the goalkeeper.
It felt like the breakthrough Wivenhoe needed, but it was Lowestoft who scored the next goal. This time Lewis Blanchett, who was earlier booked, lost possession on the edge of his own area and Lowestoft once again capitalised on his mistake.
Wivenhoe continued to fashion chances and Oliver O'Hare took full advantage when presented with a through ball to reduce the deficit to one goal.
Reece Keating picked up another injury before half time and was replaced by Markel Greenidge. Greenidge was straight into the thick of the action and was penalised by the club linesman for a foul on their left back, when it appeared that it was he who in fact was pushed.

HT Wivenhoe 2-3 Lowestoft

A constructive half time team talk from four coaches and eleven players allowed Wivenhoe to correct the errors of the first half.
Confusion concerning Lowestoft's club linesman continued, after belief he was an official supplied by the referee, Wivenhoe found out that he was in fact a member of the Lowestoft Town team. Due to his refereeing qualifications it was deemed justifiable that he could award free kicks, which the Wivenhoe linesman was not.
The anger of the unfair treatment received spurred the Dragons on and it wasn't long until their dominant display created an equaliser. A delicious cross from the right hand side from Josh Milburn was subtly tucked away at the front post by Oliver O'Hare, his second of the afternoon.
Wivenhoe kept kicking on a gear, carving opportunity after opportunity. Any possession Lowestoft gained was often cut out by Daniel Homewood who protected the back four fantastically well in the second half.
Wivenhoe did get the winning goal with fifteen minutes to play, when Hasan Ayten was on the end of another Milburn cross.
This was the motivation Lowestoft needed as they pressed on and pushed men forward and deserved a goal after a weaving run, ended in a shot which was pushed around the post by Liam Daniels. From the resulting corner Lowestoft hit the crossbar before it was hacked clear by Jake Hearn.
As Lowestoft pushed for an equaliser, their anger showed as a frustrated tackle on Jake Hearn led to the games second caution.
Shortly after Markel Greenidge put the icing on the cake as he broke the line and spun the ball into the far post with his instep, the ball hit the post and rolled in despite the defenders best efforts.
Lewis Blanchett added insult to injury towards the end of the game as despite struggling with cramp nut-megged the right back and knocked the ball past an additional defender before wasting a golden opportunity.

FT Wivenhoe 5-3 Lowestoft

M.O.T.M. Oliver O'Hare- Due to start onto the bench but due to Markel Greenidge's late arrival, ended up starting the game. Was positive up front with Reece Keating and then Markel Greenidge. Help up the ball well and took his two goals well too.
