Two second half goals double Wivenhoe's points tally in Chell Trophy

With the bitterness of Saturday's drubbing by Witham fresh in the minds of the dragon's, Jason Savage started the game playing the same formation with different personnel. Elliot Ringe played his second 90 minutes in as many days and he was protected by the same back four as Saturday with Griffin, Fowler, Frost and Blanchett keeping their shirts. Dan Morgan started after being an unused substitute in the first team as did Joe Steel who also didn't feature in the Aveley fixture despite being a named substitute. Joe Heron and Jimmy Stark continued in midfield. Marcus Spindler started on the bench with Sam Sadler and the returning Dan Homewood as Conrad Whitby replaced him in the starting eleven. Jack Harrington continued up front.

Wivenhoe began on the back foot as Brightlingsea continued to press. The back four and Ringe called into constant action to keep the scores level.
Regent's continuous attacks were finally rewarded midway through the first half they broke the deadlock to make it 1-0.
Wivenhoe created a few rare chances throughout the first period but failed to trouble the goalkeeper.

HT Brightlingsea 1-0 Wivenhoe

A heated half time discussion spurred the blues on as Conrad Whitby was replaced by Marcus Spindler and Spindler soon repaid Savage's change by netting an equaliser with 5 minutes gone. Neat interplay in the box lead Spindler 10 yards out, he turned and beat the goalkeeper to make the scores 1-1.
Dan Homewood replaced his namesake Dan Morgan to get a fresh pair of legs in front of the back four with Morgan once again playing superbly.
Joe Steel returned to reserve team action after three games with the 1st team and finished from distance as the goalkeeper went AWOL from his goal.
Maintaining the lead was made difficult when James Stark was sent off for violent conduct, but the Dragons held of for all 3 points.

FT Brightlingsea 1-2 Wivenhoe
