Wivenhoe travelled to New Farm Road to face a Stanway side who previously won 4-2 at the Maple Tree Cars Stadium. After conceding 9 goals in the past Chell Trophy games, the Dragons second string went into the game with the aim not to concede. The starting eleven had six players who had also donned the amber and black of Stanway in Goalkeeper Elliot Ringe, Central Defender Adam Frost, Midfielders James Stark, Lewis Blanchett and Joe Heron. Jack Harrington leading the attack.

The compact and resolute defending seen in the first fourty minutes slowly began to fade as Stanway created more and more opportunities. The Wivenhoe team began to fatigue, Conrad Whitby created several chances with his creative play and was replaced by Ryan Gooch in a double substitution which saw Jack Harrington replaced by another ex- Stanway man Ollie O'Hare. Adam Frost then pulled up with a calf injury which saw him replaced by Joe Steel.
Wivenhoe's discipline faded in the last fifteen minutes as players began to attack, leaving holes for Stanway to pick out and attack which they achieved successfully scoring two goals in ten minutes.
