Six straight home wins

The Dragons won their sixth straight home game with an important win against fellow promotion challengers Benfleet. The victory moved Wivenhoe up to third, leapfrogging over Benfleet.

Pete Maina put Wivenhow in front with a well struck shot which was deflected over the keeper. Wivenhoe extended the lead in the second half when CJ Cabulo scored after the ball rebounded out to him off the post from a Maina shot. Jack Mead was sent off with ten minutes of the game remaining when he was deemed to have committed a foul when last man. Benfleet scored directly from the resulting freekick. Wivenhoe defended well to see out the game and claim all three points.
