The Wivenhoe & District Sporting Facilities Trust held a special meeting on Wednesday evening, where it was confirmed that the Football Association may be interested in investing in the development of the whole of the Broad Lane Sports Ground. Any such development would affect all of the clubs that currently use the facility, Wivenhoe Town Football Club, Wivenhoe Tempest Football Club and Wivenhoe Tennis Club.
The meeting discussed options for the future relationship between the clubs and Colchester Borough Council, who are the owners of the land.
There are two options. A developed site to continue to be managed by the Trust on behalf of the Council or for the individual clubs to establish new relationships directly with the Council.
No decisions were taken, other than it was agreed that each club would hold talks with Colchester Borough Council to understand in more detail how any changes may affect them.
The Committee of Wivenhoe Town Football Club will be happy to discuss this issue with it's supporters after the home game against Benfleet on Saturday November 3rd, from around 18:00.
