Prolific striker Karl Swanborough is Jeff Welsh's first signing as Wivenhoe Town manager.

Wivenhoe Town are delighted to announce that Karl “Swanny” Swanborough has agreed to return to the club ahead of next season.

First team manager Jeff Welsh said the following about his first signing:

"Swanny brings with him a wealth of experience that may have been just what we were missing last season.

Karl’s track record speaks for itself. As one of the top strikers at this level, we’ll be counting on him not only to find the back of the net, but also to mentor and inspire our talented young forwards. His knowledge and presence on and off the pitch will be invaluable as we continue to develop our attacking options.

Everyone knows that goals win games—and Karl has made a career out of scoring them. There’s a real sense of excitement building around the club, and with Swanny back in the squad, we’re even more eager for the season to kick off."

Swanny said the following on signing once again for the Dragons:

"First of all I have to say I am buzzing to be back. Coming back to Wivenhoe has always been on my mind since I left three years ago. I loved my first time here and I’m even more excited this time around.
I can’t wait to get started and see what we can achieve with a squad that has a mix of experience and youth.

Hopefully I can start where I left off last time, scoring plenty of goals and getting this club back up the table. I can’t wait for the season to start.

UP THE DRAGONS!"

Karl Swanborough scored 25 goals in 43 games in his first spell at the Club. Since leaving at the end of the 2022/23 season, Swanny has added close to fifty more goals to his career tally playing for Burnham Ramblers and Cornard United.
