Club programme notes from Saturday 4th April on the latest on the search for a new manager and planning for next season

Following our previous home match, Jeff Welsh made the decision that he would not continue as manager into next season. The club subsequently advertised the role, with the aim of appointing a suitable candidate to see out the remaining eight matches of the campaign.

However, as the recruitment process is not a quick one and with fixtures coming thick and fast — including three away games at Framlingham Town, Wroxham Reserves and Needham Market Reserves — the club has decided that Mo Osman, Mark Hoskin and Nick McGlinchey will oversee the team for the remainder of the season. We believe this approach gives us the best possible chance to appoint the right manager at the end of the campaign, when more candidates are likely to be available and when the role will be more attractive than taking on only a handful of matches.

The season has not gone as we had hoped and, in truth, has been far more challenging than anticipated. While there have been many positive performances, we have too often fallen short of turning those efforts into points.

Whatever happens in our remaining fixtures, this season has been a difficult one, but also one from which everyone will learn. We have already begun planning for several possible outcomes. Should we receive a reprieve, it is vital that we deliver a much stronger campaign than in recent years. If the worst happens and we are relegated, we must be ready to re-group and bounce back immediately.

We would like to thank our supporters for their continued backing during what has been a tough season, and we remain fully committed to working towards a better and brighter future for Wivenhoe Town FC.
