Mo steps down as First Team Manager, but hopefully not for long.

The Committee of Wivenhoe Town Football Club are sad to advise that due to personal circumstances, Mo Osman will be stepping down from his position as First Team Manager for the foreseeable future. Ian Smith and Kevin Brown, who have ably assisted Mo will take temporary charge.

Mo will continue in his role as Chairman and has not ruled out returning as First Team Manager in week’s rather than months and we will therefore not be advertising for this position at this present time.

Mo told the website “I have today had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life. Due to personal circumstances I cannot commit the time required to first team managerial duties and it is therefore in the best interest of the club and players that I step aside, for what I hope will only be a temporary period.

I have asked Ian and Kev to take temporary charge and they have both accepted. Both Ian and Kev have been of great support during my time with the Club so please do continue to give them the support that I have had the pleasure of receiving. I love the Club and this is not something I want to do but due to personal circumstances, it is something I need to do. Thank you for all the support I have received during my time with the Club, I shall remain as Chairman and will hopefully be in attendance at the odd game in due course”.

Mo first took on First Team Management duties back in September 2009 during a difficult period for the Club, which included a brief eviction from Broad Lane following a dispute with the WDSF Trust.

The 2010/11 Season saw the Dragons once again begin the season with no budget but a commitment lead by Mo Osman to develop young local talent. The team gained a respectable 32 points to finish 3rd from bottom of the league and avoid relegation through the promotion of Leiston. The close season also saw the establishment of a full youth set up which meant for the first time in it's history the Club has teams representing the club all the way from Under 7's to Under 18's.

Mo remained in the position as first team Manager for season 2011/12, a position we have not been able to fulfil for a consistent period for several years. This though was all part of the continuing signs that the Club was becoming more stable once again and building stronger foundations for the future.

Early on into the Season Chairman Carl Callan stepped down following two years of hard grind with several other faces who helped to ensure the Club is still standing. Mo Osman eventually became the Clubs 'caretaker' Chairman until formally taking on the role in the summer of 2012.
