Arsenal are coming to town, and they may just provide the ideal present for the football fan you don't know what to buy this Christmas. How about a place in the line up of the team that will play a star studded Gunners eleven?

The Arsenal Charity Team, which is an official branch of the famous London club, will field a team of former players and sports and TV stars who support the club in a game against Wivenhoe Town on 3rd July at the town’s ground. Any member of the public aged 20 or above (subject to availability) can pay to play in the Wivenhoe side.

It means those lucky enough to get a place on the pitch will face iconic players from the past such as Perry Groves, former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash or well known TV personalities Phil Daniels, Joe Swash and Ralph Little (* subject to change).

The game will be part of a joint family day organised by Wivenhoe and Arsenal to raise money for a selection of charities including the Sports Charity Trust, Football In The Community as well as regeneration funding for Wivenhoe’s ground and training facilities, as well as Arsenal’s charity partners.

In addition to the game itself there will be plenty of other entertainment for families including half time penalty shoot out, youth match, FIFA Xbox (We should explain to readers who are unfamiliar.) cheerleaders, face painting, raffle for some great prizes, and much more. There will also be a fully licensed bar and club house facilities, a selection of hot and cold food and soft drinks and sweets. And the club is calling on anyone who has an idea for additional entertainment to get it touch.

‘We would be delighted to hear from any club or individuals that has an activity that might fit an exciting family day,’ says Wivenhoe Town spokesman Mustafa Osman. ‘There will be lots of entertainment for people of all ages as well as exciting household names in the Arsenal line up.’

‘This isn’t just about football, its a day out for all the family and Arsenal have been superb in working with us and offering their experience of creating fun days like these. We haven’t completed all the planning, but there will definitely be something for everyone.
