Poor preparation for this tough test against Witham made things difficult for Wivenhoe before the game had even started. Having ten players 40 minutes prior to kick off and starting the game with no substitutes the odds were stacked against the boys in blue. Both teams had an equal share of possession but it was Witham who were more productive with theirs coming in 3-0 up at half time after Wivenhoe failed to clear their lines on all occasions.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with an equal share in possession but Witham once again being more clinical in front of goal. A red card for Witham after mass confrontation gave Wivenhoe what you would have thought to be a slight advantage, but the only capitalization they took from this was from a finely struck lob from Ollie O'Hare.
Wivenhoe will be pleased to see the back of this difficult Chell Trophy campaign to concentrate on the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League Division One.
